Ny-Ålesund RI: Zeppelin Mountain Station

Atmospheric Air Research Facility of the Norwegian Polar Institute/Norwegian Institute for Air Research

The research is conducted mainly at the Zeppelin Mountain Station or in the "Bath-house" laboratory at the foot of the mountain, under the scientific responsibility of NILU. The extensive instrument park measures a number of atmospheric trace-gases and pollutants, including e.g. VOCs, POPs, CFCs, nitrogen oxides, methane, surface and total ozone, CO2, radioactivity, precipitation chemistry, etc.

Research programmes concentrate on the composition and the chemical processes of the troposphere and stratosphere.
