The station supports life and earth science research programmes related to global change especially in terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems. Visiting scientists have access to a good field laboratory with basic facilities for processing samples and data, access to local field sites and boat transport. Main research topics at the NERC facility are terrestrial and freshwater ecology, environmental studies and geomorphology.
